Potent Marketing Lessons from Netflix

by Pat_Marcello

Are you a member of Netflix? I wasn’t until early this year. I couldn’t understand how it worked. I mean, come on… movies by mail? Knowing how snail mail works, I was sure that it would be a very long wait between each movie I got.  Movie rental releases by mail just didn’t sit well in my brain. And I couldn’t see how retaining customers would work out for them, either.

Duh.

Oh yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have been schooled!

Our local Blockbuster, another movie rental release company that I’m sure you’ve heard of, got our money for 10 long years– plenty of it. We rented so many films from there we actually had a Gold card. Yep. We’re total movieholics. And then, two stores within short driving distance for us closed. EEEK! What the heck were we going to do.

You see, after work on the compuer all day, my old eyes just don’t like to focus on words. I love to read, but they just don’t! So, I need time where I can watch something entertaining and hopefully, learn something in the process. (Not always, but I really like that.) So in order to get great movie rental releases, the only alternative was…

Netflix

They do extraordinarily well with getting the word out and with retaining customers they attract, that I picked up the free trial card I got in the mail and signed up for 1 DVD at a time. It was only $8.99 a month. Nothing to lose, really. If I got 3 DVDs a month, I was still beating Blockbuster’s prices for a week.

So, I was immediately impressed.

Not only was it easy to sign up, but when I sent the first DVD back, I had another in my hands in 2 days! That freaked me right out. No wonder they’re retaining customers!  They’re amazing.  And so, today… you’re looking at a 3-DVD at a time customer, and I’m watching stuff I’d never have gotten in a Blockbuster. Netflix’s customer service is just plain amazing. You can do most anything you want to do online and it’s easy. No wonder they’re retaining customers!

This is what you need to strive for in your own business. When you’re concentrating on setting up lead generation campaigns and growing your list bigger all the time, you need to remember to provide that level of service to your customers. Don’t treat them like slot machines. Give them lots of valuable information that they can use and make it easy for them to get. Answer their questions when they inquire, and be sure that whatever products you’re selling them are top notch.

If you do those things, your lead generation campaigns will hum, your list will grow, and you’ll continue to make money every single month with ease.  For more information on how lead generation campaigns work, visit http://ListBuilding.com/overcome
